Joseph Carta, aka Holden, is an Italian singer-songwriter, rapper and producer born in 2000.
He began his musical journey at a very young age, developing a passion for the Pop/EDM world and playing in various discotheques in Rome. His pseudonym takes inspiration from the protagonist of the famous novel by J. D. Salinger, “The Catcher in Rye” one of the masterpieces of the Beat generation, in which the artist sees himself and identifies himself due to the strong sense of rebellion and anguish towards the world around him.
His official debut took place in 2019, with the publication of his first EP entitled “Il giovane Holden”, to which were added, a few months later, the songs “Come le altre” and “Non fa per me”, which together exceed over 20 million streams.
But the real success came thanks to the platinum-certified single “Na Na Na” which currently registers over 53 million streams. Subsequently, he released the songs “Cadiamo Insieme” (over 21 million streams and a certified gold record), “Fratè” and “Barriere”, up to his debut album “Prologo”.
In 2022, he released the singles “Farmi a pezzi”, “Tu lo sai già” and “Neon”. He collaborated with artists from the urban Italian scene, such as Coez, Quentin40 and Gemello. In 2023, he participated in the Italian tv show Amici. During this experience, he released the singles “Dimmi che non è un addio” and “Nuvola”, both already certified gold with over 16 million streams and 15 million streams, respectively.
Until now, Holden is still the only competitor to have obtained two certifications during the participation in the show. Later on he released the song “Solo stanotte”, followed by “Randagi”. His new EP “Joseph”, released on May 24th, 2024, currently exceeds 70 million streams.
In autumn 2024, Holden embarked on his first club tour which included more than ten dates in the main Italian cities and was sold out in Rome, Milan, Turin and Bologna.
In November 2024 the song “Grandine” feat. mew was released. The song has now exceeded 7 million streams. It debuted at #25 in the FIMI singles chart, marked Holden’s best debut on the Spotify Daily chart (#26), the visual video entered the YouTube Music trends (peak #6) and the song was included in the main editorial playlists.
